This decision includes young people who were brought to the United States before they turned 16, have been in the country for over five years, and pose no threat to national security. “Today the President made a strong statement to Dream Act eligible immigrants, who have graduated from a U.S. high school, earned a GED, or served in the military, by allowing them the opportunity to live without fear of deportation. “There are many young, undocumented immigrants who are proud to call America home. Most have been raised and educated here. Some have put on a uniform and defended our freedom. They all deserve a chance to work and live freely. “For far too long our broken immigration policies have needed to change. It makes no sense to deport young people, who have made positive contributions to their communities, to countries where they may never have lived or even speak the language. I am proud that the President recognized this fact and is making a step in the right direction.” To read the statement by Secretary Napolitano from the Department of Homeland Security click here. ### For “Moore” News Updates Follow Gwen Moore on Twitter @RepGwenMoore and Like Gwen Moore on Facebook
