Congresswoman Gwen Moore Statement on Supporting House Passage of H.R. 6, The American Dream and Promise Act, and H.R. 1603, The Farm Workforce Modernization Act

Congresswoman Moore released the following statement:

“Dreamers are Americans in every sense of the word. Many Dreamers serve in our communities and work selflessly on the front lines of the pandemic as health care workers and grocery store workers or they serve as teachers to our young people. It’s time that our laws reflect their incredible impact on our communities.

Individuals who qualify for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) or Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) would finally be able to obtain a permanent residency status, many of whom have lived in the U.S. and established roots with their family and their community here.

Immigrant workers can perform challenging jobs, which are often essential to our economy. Immigrant farm workers are part of our agriculture industry, help put food on our tables, and part of the fabric of our communities. Through H.R. 1603, we support our farmers while guaranteeing agricultural workers and their families have a pathway to citizenship.

H.R. 6 and H.R. 1603 are bipartisan bills that recognize the immense contributions immigrants make to our country and will help ensure that the U.S. can remain their home.

I am honored that our state and city have a history of being a welcoming place for immigrants, and in this spirit, I proudly cast my vote for H.R. 6 and H.R. 1603.”
