WISN -Democratic U.S. Rep. Gwen Moore is calling for the impeachment of President Donald Trump.
By Colleen Henry Democratic U.S. Rep. Gwen Moore is calling for the impeachment of President Donald Trump. It comes after the president's comments Tuesday afternoon in which he said both sides are to blame in the violent protests at a white nationalist rally in Virginia over the weekend. "I'm very, very upset. I really think it's really time for us to sort of forgive ourselves and really just admit that we made a mistake in electing this president, that Republicans being in the majority have got to take some responsibility for making whatever legal efforts there are to remove this man from office," Moore said. "You want him impeached?" WISN 12 New reporter Colleen Henry asked. "Yeah, I think so. I think I'm there," Moore said. "Of course, I believe in due process. I think the investigation that Bob Mueller is doing is very important," Moore said. She later released a statement saying, in part, "For the sake of the soul of our country, we must come together to restore our national dignity that has been robbed by Donald Trump’s presence in the White House. My Republican friends, I implore you to work with us within our capacity as elected officials to remove this man as our commander-in-chief and help us move forward from this dark period in our nation’s history." Three other members of Congress have previously called for the president's impeachment -- U.S. Reps. Maxine Waters, Al Green and Brad Sherman. They're all Democrats. |
