Congresswoman Moore Statement on House Transportation and Committee’s Approval of H.R. 3684, the INVEST in America Act which includes Funding for Milwaukee Transportation Projects Each Member of Congress had the opportunity to submit transportation project requests from their congressional districts to the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Congresswoman Moore submitted transportation projects for potential inclusion in the Investing in a New Vision for the Environment and Surface Transportation in America (INVEST) Act.Following the Committee’s approval of Rep. Moore’s projects, she released the following statement: “The Invest in America Act is a much-needed surface transportation reauthorization bill that includes increased investments in transit and climate change, among other changes that will help address transportation needs in our communities. I am thrilled to learn that community’s transportation projects that I requested are included in the INVEST in America Act! The projects which were included will allow for Milwaukee County to buy more buses to modernize its aging fleet, invest in steps to improve security for bus operators, customers, and facilities, and carry out road projects in the city of Milwaukee, Glendale, and St. Francis. The Invest in America Act will also fund work on the Beerline Bike Trail to create new access points at Vienna Ave to improve community access to and usage of the trail. Meaningful investment in our infrastructure is long overdue. Each of these projects will create new job opportunities in our community, reduce noise pollution, invest in our public transit, and make our roads and trails safer for drivers and pedestrians. I look forward to supporting this legislation when it comes to the floor and continuing to work with Chairman DeFazio and President Biden to see these investments become law.” Read more about the transportation projects Congresswoman Moore submitted to the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee here. |
