This disease does not discriminate when it takes the lives of our mothers, our sisters, our daughters and our friends. Over the years, great advancements have been made to combat cancer through research, education and early detection. Despite these gains, breast cancer still remains a major threat to women’s health. This threat is why the Affordable Care Act is so vital. “Through President Obama’s landmark health care reform law, women can receive mammograms without the financial burden of paying a deductible or co pay. When this legislation is in full effect, women will no longer be denied access to health coverage due to breast cancer. “We must continue to do all we can to fight breast cancer. I encourage all women to use this month to learn more about breast cancer and to take positive steps to make their health a priority. “This month and every month, let us honor breast cancer survivors, remember those we lost and recommit ourselves to finding a cure.” To learn more about breast cancer awareness month events in the Milwaukee area, please visit the Wisconsin Comprehensive Cancer Control Program website. ### For “Moore” News Updates Follow Gwen Moore on Twitter @RepGwenMoore and Like Gwen Moore on Facebook
