Congresswoman Gwen Moore Statement on U.S.- Israel Strikes on Iran “I object to this lawless military operation in Iran. The Administration’s decision to pursue these operations without congressional authorization again demonstrates Trump’s inability to engage in diplomacy and respect Congress as a co-equal branch of government. Bombs are not a substitute for long-term strategy and diplomacy. As evident in June’s strikes, dropping bombs in Iran did not yield results or halt their nuclear ambitions, and will not produce those outcomes now. But now founding members of the ‘Board of Peace’ are bombing the Iranian people, who have already suffered so much at the hands of their government. In authorizing these strikes without Congress, the candidate who campaigned on peace is now bent on starting wars. Congress should have acted after the first ill-advised attack. Speaker Johnson must allow a vote on the War Powers Resolution to stop another forever war."
