Republican Health Care Proposal Makes Health Care More Expensive, Ignores Premium Crisis “For 15 years, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has helped millions of Americans access high-quality health care coverage. It has saved lives! Building on its success, enhanced premium subsidies helped a record 24 million Americans access care. Now many of these Americans, including my constituents, are weeks away from facing soaring premium costs. After cutting Medicaid/BadgerCare to fund tax breaks for billionaires, today’s legislation would continue the Republican assault on access to affordable health care. It would take away health care for low-income Americans and ignore the looming rise in premiums. We can’t wait another 15 years for Republicans to propose a health care plan that primarily serves the wealthy. Time is up, and Congress must act now. That’s why I’m so pleased several Republicans joined in signing Democrats’ discharge petition to extend ACA premium subsidies, it’s the only way we can protect our constituents’ access to affordable, high-quality care.” |
