Congresswoman Gwen Moore Statement on Epstein Resolution
Washington,
November 18, 2025
Congresswoman Gwen Moore Statement on Epstein Resolution Today, Congresswoman Moore released a statement following her vote to release every Department of Justice (DOJ) file on convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein to the House and the American public, with very limited exceptions including to protect the personal information of victims and to protect active investigations or prosecutions. “For years, a sick man, who happened to be a wealthy, well-connected financier, preyed on young girls. These survivors were denied justice for far too long, and too many people looked the other way, failing them. I thank the survivors who courageously came forward to share their heartbreaking stories of abuse and called for Congress to vote to release these files. The American public echoes their calls for transparency. This resolution was long overdue and triumphed despite many efforts to keep these documents hidden. Speaker Johnson worked to block efforts to release these files from reaching the House floor, including recessing the House several times to stop Democratic attempts to push for the release. At the White House, Trump engaged in a major pressure campaign to keep Republican members from supporting the petition. It did not work. And let’s be clear: rather than wait for the Senate to act on this legislation, the Trump Administration retains the ability to release these files TODAY without any further action from Congress and has had that ability since he took office on January 20, 2025. Today’s vote is a vital step in finally securing transparency and accountability that so many Americans and survivors have demanded.” Congresswoman Moore was one of the 218 bipartisan signers of a discharge petition that finally forced this week’s House vote on this legislation.
