Trump Continues to Break the Law, Impose Hunger on 42 Million Americans, Including 700,000 Wisconsinites Trump continues to break the law, defying recent court orders, which call on the Trump administration to fund SNAP and FoodShare during the government shutdown. In response, Congresswoman Gwen Moore released the following statement: “Millions of Americans do not know when they will receive their next meal. Food banks are stretched beyond capacity. SNAP and FoodShare benefits are already being delayed because of Trump’s cruelty. Now, Trump is pledging, once again, to use hunger as a political weapon and continue blatantly ignoring the law to score political points. The only people who pay for Trump’s lawlessness are the children, seniors, veterans, people with disabilities and struggling families who are now forced to go hungry. Republicans in Congress must call on the Trump administration to obey the law and protect essential food benefits for all our constituents.”
