Congresswoman Gwen Moore Joins Wisconsin Colleagues in Urging Trump to Approve Governor Evers’ Request for FEMA Assistance Following extensive flooding damage, Congresswoman Gwen Moore (WI-04) joined the entire Wisconsin delegation in urging the President to approve Governor Evers’ request to the President for a major disaster declaration in response to historic flooding that hit Milwaukee and the surrounding area. Approval of this request would unlock FEMA assistance, including their individual assistance program and public assistance program. “Recent flooding caused tens of millions in damage, including in more than 1,500 homes and tragically, a loss of life in our community. My constituents are still trying to pick up the pieces, and local governments cannot shoulder the cost of recovery on their own. I thank the Governor for his swift response and support of recovery efforts so far, including his request to the President. The President must swiftly approve Governor Evers’ request for federal assistance. I am proud to partner on this crucial bipartisan effort and push for the resources our communities need,” said Congresswoman Moore (WI-04). In their letter to the President, the Members wrote: “Given the magnitude of these losses, we respectfully urge you to issue a Major Disaster Declaration under the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act and make the Individual Assistance, Public Assistance and Hazard Mitigation programs available to the impacted Wisconsin counties. Federal assistance is urgently needed to help families repair and rebuild their homes, support businesses and workers as they recover lost income and property, and to ensure that local government can restore critical infrastructure and services.” “The Wisconsin delegation is committed to working in partnership with you, FEMA, and the Wisconsin Emergency Management to ensure our communities receive the federal support they need to recover.” Read the full text of the letter here.
