Congresswoman Gwen Moore Slams Milwaukee Job Corps Closure “For years, Job Corps has received bipartisan support. It has helped young people who might otherwise fall through the cracks reach their potential. In addition to providing job training and counseling services, it provides housing, which is especially important for those who are experiencing homelessness or housing insecure. The abrupt closure of Job Corps programs nationwide, including here in Milwaukee, will leave young people stranded and without the training and resources they were counting on to access meaningful employment and careers. This Administration has not shown how they will fill in this gap as they shutter Jobs Corps programs nationwide. We need to be investing in our future generations - our future workforce. But this ill-advised decision will create chaos and uncertainty for vulnerable young people and undermine Congress’s authority to fund federal programs.” |
