The Congressional Budget Office Estimates Confirms it: Republican Proposals will Rip Health Care Away from Millions of Americans Today, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released estimates showing that all the Medicaid proposals reportedly being considered by House Republicans will lead to millions of Americans losing their health care coverage. In response, Congresswoman Gwen Moore released the following statement: “If Republicans have their way, Medicaid would be gutted, and millions of Americans will lose their health care, including many in Wisconsin who depend on BadgerCare for valuable services. Such a move will also deal a heavy blow to hospitals, community health centers, and nursing homes that receive Medicaid to care for our communities, threatening access to care for all Wisconsinites. Despite what Republicans claim, these cuts aren’t about fighting ‘waste, fraud, and abuse.’ Their cruel proposals are only providing cover for the plan they had along: cutting Americans’ health care to pay for tax giveaways to billionaires and large corporations.
