Congresswoman Gwen Moore Statement on Illegal Trump Action Blocking Community Funding

President Trump ordered most federal grant funding to freeze by 4pm CT today. Today, Congresswoman Moore held a press event with Mayor Johnson speaking on the harmful potential impacts of this order and how it could affect their constituents. In response, Congresswoman Moore released the following statement:  

“This illegal action is straight out of the Project 2025 playbook. Trump’s Project 2025 agenda is already sowing chaos, pain and uncertainty on my constituents and Americans around the country. This lawless action places critical funding in our communities at risk. Seniors who depend on Meals and Wheels, families who need WIC to stay fed, and homeless veterans who need services are at the mercy of Donald Trump.

Let me be clear: Congress holds the power of the purse, not Donald Trump. I will work with my Democratic colleagues to challenge this order, and I implore my Republican colleagues to join us.”
