Congresswoman Gwen Moore Statement on SCOTUS Ruling on Affirmative Action

“Diversity is a strength – not a threat to anyone’s prosperity or opportunities. To capture the full talents and potential of the American people, we must champion diversity. Doing so is not only an acknowledgement of the systemic racism that still pervades our society, but one way to help redress inequities. Everyone, from students to workers, benefits from the perspectives, talents, and lived experience that equal representation offers. As co-Chair of the bipartisan TRIO Caucus, I am proud of TRIO programs, which use a class-conscious lens to help first-generation and low-income students succeed in school.

As we look ahead, businesses, schools, and institutions must find creative ways to ensure people from underrepresented backgrounds have a seat at the table.”
