Congresswoman Gwen Moore and Congresswoman Barbara Lee Introduce Resolution Recognizing “School Social Work Week” In response, she released the following statement: “School social workers help our students navigate a variety of challenges in their life, from the struggles of poverty to mental health to discrimination to abuse. Their education, expertise, and outreach are a lifeline for some of our most vulnerable young people. We need to make more of these professionals accessible to our students. I know firsthand how they support the health and well-being of our children and families, which is why I am proudly joining my friend and colleague Congresswoman Barbara Lee in recognizing the incredible impact school social workers make each day,” said Congresswoman Gwen Moore. “School social workers are important mental health professionals who serve as a bridge between students and communities. I am proud to join my colleague Congresswoman Gwen Moore in introducing this resolution to thank and honor the heroic men and women who help our students thrive despite challenging circumstances. As Chair of the Congressional Social Work Caucus, I express my deepest gratitude to social workers everywhere and vow to continue fighting on their behalf,” said Congresswoman Barbara Lee. |
