Congresswoman Gwen Moore Announces $225 Million from Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for Wisconsin Bridge Repairs

This funding through the bipartisan infrastructure law will help county, local, and tribal officials make much-needed repairs to small bridges throughout Wisconsin

“We are now in infrastructure week! I am thrilled that additional federal infrastructure investments that I supported are now starting to flow to our communities. I supported the bipartisan infrastructure plan and President’s Biden’s vision because I understand how critical infrastructure is to our nation’s economic growth and well-being.”

“I am so proud to announce that Wisconsin will receive $225 million over the span of five years for bridge repairs through the Bridge Formula program. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, nearly 1,000 bridges in Wisconsin have been identified as being in poor condition. These funds will help ensure Wisconsinites, including my constituents, are able to travel or move goods across our state without worrying about the safety or condition of the bridge they are traveling on.”

This funding targeted to smaller bridges is made available through the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act that passed the House with Congresswoman Moore’s support in November 2021 and was signed into law soon after by President Biden.  That law also includes a separate competitive grant program to support work on larger bridges that has not yet been announced.

“These investments are the beginning of hundreds of millions of dollars in additional funding for roads, bridges, transit, water infrastructure, and broadband in Wisconsin alone, among others, because Congress and the President acted in a robust way to help ensure needed infrastructure investments are being made in our communities. I am excited about the many projects and funds coming to improve the transportation infrastructure and meet real needs that will be announced in the coming weeks that will benefit our communities,  in Milwaukee and elsewhere across the State of Wisconsin including to  repair our roads and bridges, support public transit, expand access to broadband, remove lead pipes and invest in water infrastructure, all while creating good-paying jobs in our communities.”
