Congresswoman Gwen Moore Statement on Atlanta Spa Shootings “My heart hurts for the families who are grieving the loss of their loved ones to an act of hate. There has been a rise in hate crimes against Asian Americans during the pandemic. This disturbing pattern cannot be separated from the racist rhetoric elected officials amplified, which made Asian Americans a scapegoat for the pandemic. Words matter. Our neighbors, friends, and community members are not our enemies. We must challenge this hate with a love that supports AAPI communities because no person should live in fear because of the color of their skin. I promise to always stand with my AAPI brothers and sisters and continue rejecting bigotry in all forms.” |
