Congresswoman Moore Urges Negotiators to Include Key Provisions in FY 2021 Defense Funding Bill As negotiations on final FY 2021 funding bills continue, Congresswoman released the following letter that she sent to negotiators on the Defense Department funding bill regarding the inclusion of key House passed provisions reaffirming Congress’ war powers. “I strongly support our men and women in uniform and their families who sacrifice so much for our country. It is critical that Congress reclaims its authority when it comes to decisions about putting these men and women in harms way. Unfortunately, under Administrations of both parties, that important responsibility has been severely undermined The House passed provisions help restore Congress Constitutional authority and responsibility to the American people to debate the use of our military forces to engage in war. Retaining those provisions in a final bill will restore a critical check on reckless military action and ensure that decisions to use U.S. military force are properly debated and considered by Congress. |
