Congresswoman Gwen Moore Statement on the Passing of Congressman John Lewis Today, Congresswoman Moore released the following statement in response to the passing of Congressman John Lewis: “I am heartbroken to learn of the passing of my wonderful friend and colleague, John Lewis. I was so honored to serve in the House and on the Ways and Means Committee with him. And before I was elected to Congress, I was so deeply inspired by his work to secure civil rights for Black Americans, that I worked in my own community to build economic equity by creating a credit union to ensure more Milwaukee residents have access to capital. He will continue to inspire and move us all to fearlessly fight for justice. May we all keep creating good trouble to build a more just and equal America.” |
