Congresswoman Moore Calls for Answers About Reported Economic Impact Payment (EIP) Fraud in Nursing Home Facilities Today, Congresswoman Moore sent a letter to the U.S. Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration pressing for information into reports of nursing home and assisted living facilities pressuring residents to sign over their EIP checks. In response, Congresswoman Moore released the following statement: “I am so disturbed to learn that nursing home and assisted living facilities are coercing their residents to hand over their EIP checks. Seniors are particularly vulnerable to economic struggles, which is why we need to stop any actions that deny seniors relief during these trying economic times. I want to ensure that our seniors get the full benefit that I voted to provide them and to which they are entitled. That is why I am calling on the Inspector General to thoroughly investigate and make recommendations to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regarding actions the IRS can take to stop such concerning scams and schemes.” Read the full text of the letter here.
