Congresswoman Moore on Articles of Impeachment Today, the House Judiciary Committee unveiled two articles of impeachment that charge Trump with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. In response, Congresswoman Moore released the following statement: “Every President takes a sacred oath to protect the country and the interests of the American people. As a Member of Congress, I took a similar oath to support and defend the Constitution. When Trump solicited a foreign government to investigate a political rival for personal and political gain, he violated his oath. The Founding Fathers included mechanisms for presidents who abuse their power. Impeachment is that mechanism. I do not take these actions lightly, but President Trump has left Congress no choice but to move forward with articles of impeachment to uphold the Constitution and protect our democracy.” |
