Congresswoman Moore’s Legislation to Expand Education Training for Doulas and Midwifery Approved in Committee

Congresswoman Moore’s Legislation to Expand Education Training for Doulas and Midwifery Approved in Committee Congresswoman Moore’s legislation was included within H.R. 3398, the Pathways to Health Careers Act, legislation that would expand Health Professions Opportunity Grant Programs (HPOG). HPOGs provide TANF recipients with access to training and education in health care careers. “Too often what hinders low-income people from climbing up the economic ladder is missing rungs and faulty support systems. By connecting low-income people with the training and education for careers in maternal and infant health, we strengthen our support systems, address our nation’s high infant and maternal mortality rates and provide low-income women with the tools to move into family-supporting careers. Marking up this legislation in the Ways and Means Committee markup is great progress. I will keep working to ensure this bill’s passage in the House.”
