Congresswoman Gwen Moore Statement on Passage of H.R. 986, The Protecting Americans with Pre-existing Conditions Act Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Gwen Moore (WI-4) is releasing the following statement regarding the House passage of H.R. 986, the Protecting Americans with Pre-existing Conditions Act of 2019: “Today is a good day for our country and the tens of millions of Americans who have a pre-existing condition that for too long has resulted in discrimination when trying to get health care coverage. As a cancer survivor who pays $15,000 a month for prescription drugs, I would not be here today without good insurance coverage. This bill ensures that millions of Americans can continue to receive access to high quality, affordable, comprehensive medical care without regard for any pre-existing conditions as guaranteed by the Affordable Care Act. I hope that my colleagues in the Senate choose not to waste time on political games when American lives are at stake and follow suit in passing this essential piece of legislation.”
