Congresswoman Gwen Moore (WI-4) to host 2019 Congressional Art Competition
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Gwen Moore (WI-4) is hosting a reception for the 2019 Congressional Art Competition in Milwaukee this Saturday, April 27. Every spring, the Congressional Art Caucus sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent across the nation. The competition provides an opportunity for members of Congress to recognize the artistic talents of their constituents. “I thank the students and teachers who participated in the competition. Art enriches and inspires the soul, and this brings our students and our community into the celebration of artistic creation and discovery. I would also like to thank Northwestern Mutual for hosting the Art Competition and for their sponsorship of the 2019 People’s Choice Award.” This week, the contestant’s entries are on display at the Northwestern Mutual Tower and Commons, and visitors can vote for their favorite artwork to receive the People’s Choice Award. The winning student and their teacher will be recognized at the reception and will each receive a $100.00 gift certificate. The reception will take place from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Northwestern Mutual Tower and Commons located at 805 E. Mason St, Milwaukee, 53202. The first-place winner will receive a $500 gift card and a two-day trip to Washington, D.C. In addition, the winning artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for a full year.
