VA Announces New Grant Opportunity for Veteran Programs

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Gwen Moore (WI-4)
is sharing news about a new grant opportunity for Veterans.

Today, the U.S. Department of Veterans’ Affairs announced approximately $15 million is available for community organizations that provide adaptive sports and therapeutic recreational opportunities for veterans.

“Milwaukee is home to thousands of veterans. It is our duty to ensure we look after those who have sacrificed a great deal for our country and our freedom. I’m thrilled about this funding boost to help our nation’s veterans. These programs are crucial in helping to facilitate healing and rehabilitation for veterans. We are duty bound to ensure that those who fought for the freedoms we enjoy have a chance to improve their health and overall well-being.”

Wisconsin’s 4th district is home to nearly 24,000 veterans and this funding will not only increase adaptive sports services for needy vets in Milwaukee, it will also expand the quality of these programs at community organizations across the country. Qualified organizations can find application instructions on the VA Adaptive Sports Grant Program website. All submissions will be accepted online through grants.gov. and decisions will be announced this fall.
