“As a true believer in our democracy, I was proud to vote for H.R. 1. The legislation empowers and respects the American people by ensuring that elections are fair, transparent, and reflective of the will of voters." Wisconsin has been ground zero for voter suppression, partisan gerrymandering and other nefarious schemes to corrupt election results. As an honest broker for all Americans, I’m thrilled to cosponsor and vote for legislation that expands access to the ballot box, including redistricting reform for the entire country, ensuring complete transparency and reasonable limits in campaign finance, and demanding accountability from public officials, as well as, restoring the public’s faith in our democracy.” Another component of this bill is the release of the president and vice president’s tax returns. “We must be accountable from the top down and as your voice in Congress it is my sincere duty to work to establish a sense of check and balance, transparency and accountability from our elected officials. None of us are above the law. During these difficult times, it’s imperative to maintain a sense of honesty and dignity from all those charged with serving the people, not themselves and special interests.” |
