Hundreds gathered in front of the federal building in downtown Milwaukee for the “Families Belong Together” rally.

There were more than 20 organized rallies throughout Wisconsin.

“We are demanding an end to the zero humanity policy and we are demanding not only child but family detention because this is against everything our nation stands for,” said Darryl Morin, League of Latin American Citzen’s.

Despite the heat, demonstrators came out with their signs and with a message. They’re calling on President Trump to reunite immigrant children with their families.

“I can’t even begin to imagine the pain those children and parents are feeling  not knowing when they will see each other again and not know where they are but it’s far from over,” said Marissa Ocampo, ACLU.

Community leaders like Representative Gwen Moore and Alderman Jose Perez also came out to show their support.

“As long as I am at the city council, I will fight and make sure that resources are never used to separate families,” said Perez.

Demonstrators said the fight isn’t over. Speakers encouraged those who attended the event to go out and vote in the next election.
