Rep. Gwen Moore said a Roy Moore supporter called her office pretending to be a journalist – and use racial slurs after their cover was blown.

The Wisconsin Democrat said in a tweet that the person called her office on Tuesday, posing as an Associated Press reporter.

"Once their cover was blown they started screaming & called me & my staff the n-word & other racial slurs," she said. "I won't be intimidated. I won't stop speaking out. You will not shut me down. Believe it."

Gwen Moore's office did not immediately return a request for comment.

The phone call came a day after Gwen Moore said she was worried about the safety of the young people who work for the Senate page program in the event that Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore was elected to the upper chamber.

The Alabama Republican is accused of sexually assaulting and harassing girls as young as 14 when he was in his 30s and a deputy attorney general. Roy Moore is up against Democrat Doug Jones in a special election for the Alabama seat on Tuesday.

"The nature of life on Capitol Hill necessitates long hours in close proximity to lawmakers and staff that can create power dynamics of which young people are not fully aware," Gwen Moore wrote Monday in a letter to the Senate Sergeant at Arms. "It would be unconscionable for Congress to not be vigilant and proactive in taking precautions to safeguard these children given the well sourced allegations against Roy Moore."
