Statement of Congresswoman Moore on Haiti Earthquake

Washington, DC, January 13, 2010

(Washington, DC)— Today, U.S. Congresswoman Gwen Moore (D-Milwaukee) made the following statement on last night’s 7.0 magnitude earthquake centered near Haiti’s capital Port-au-Prince:

“The people of Haiti are in my thoughts and prayers – as well as their friends and family here in America and across the world.

“Sadly, Haitians know suffering all too well.  It is important that we respond to this devastating earthquake as quickly as possible.  I am proud that President Obama has pledged our support, and I stand ready to work with him and my colleagues to help Haiti in its recovery from this disaster.”
