There is certainly a need for an escalated military response against this mounting threat but such a response requires congressional oversight. As we move forward, it is vital that the Administration continue to build strong congressional support in confronting ISIL in the region.

"A modern terror group like ISIL requires a modern anti-terrorism strategy built on a foundation of international cooperation. Such a strategy must include a global diplomatic effort combined with a focus on fostering political compromise within the Iraqi government and ending Syria’s bloody civil war.
