To help taxpayers during this year’s filing season, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is offering special Saturday hours at many Taxpayer Assistance Centers (TAC) across the country. The upcoming date for this in-person event in Milwaukee is May 14 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Taxpayers do not need an appointment to attend this event.

People can receive walk-in help on all services. During these events, people can also ask about reconciling advance Child Tax Credit payments and receive other help like 2021 Tax Credits Assistance , Online Account Assistance, Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) Renewal, IRS Identity Theft Victim Assistance, Payments – check or money order only (no cash will be accepted), Refunds, Tax Law Questions, and Transcripts and Forms. The IRS's Contact Your Local Office site lists all services provided at specific TACs.
Please note that no tax return preparation will be available at these events. If you need assistance filing a tax return, I encourage you to reach out to the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) hotline at 414-963-2694. This year’s deadline to file your taxes is April 18, 2022.
If someone has a question(s) about a tax bill or an IRS audit, or needs help resolving a tax problem, they will receive assistance from IRS employees specializing in these services. If these employees are not available, the individual will receive a referral for these services. The Taxpayer Advocate Service is partnering with the IRS and will be available at many of these events to meet with taxpayers.
Taxpayers should come prepared with the following information:
· Current government-issued photo identification,
· Social Security cards and/or ITIN numbers for members of their household, including spouse and dependents (if applicable),
· Any IRS letters or notices received and related documents,
· A current mailing address,
· An email address, and
· Bank account information, to receive payments or refunds by direct deposit.
