This is a list of Cohttps://gwenmoore.house.gov/UploadedFiles/Cert-Wauwatosa_FY_2026.pdfngresswoman Moore’s Community Funding Project requests to the House Appropriations Committee for potential inclusion in the House’s Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 appropriation bills.  Inclusion on this list does not ensure the House Appropriations Committee will fund the project. Only those projects that are included in the FY 26 funding bills that are signed into law will be funded.  Below are brief summaries of the projects and a letter for each project certifying that neither Congresswoman Moore or her immediate family have any financial interests in that project.  

Priority Needs Housing and Supportive Services Project--$4.5 million

The entity to receive funding for this project is the City of Milwaukee, located at 200 East Wells Street, Milwaukee, WI 53202.

The funding would be used to provide recovery housing and support supportive services to keep individuals in two high risk priority: those with substance use issues or those who are fleeing or survivors of domestic violence.   Funding will also be used to rectify physical building deficiencies and supportive service insufficiencies in Low Income Housing Tax Credit affordable and supportive housing projects throughout the City of Milwaukee, including HVAC system replacements, restoring ADA lifts and elevator services, environmental repairs, additions of physical security measures and fire suppression systems.

Addressing Lead Based Hazards in Public Facilities Project--$750,000

The entity to receive funding is the City of Milwaukee Public Health Department located at 841 N. Broadway, Milwaukee, WI 53202.

Addressing the threat posed by lead in housing and public facilities remains a priority for supporting community economic development as well as the health and well-being of the community.

The funding would be used to support increased lead screening and mitigation of lead hazards affecting school children most at risk for exposure to lead, including at public facilities.  Funding would support lead screening, enforcement inspections, and testing of schools for lead hazards and public facility improvements to remediate and mitigate identified lead hazards.

Milwaukee County Transit System Bus Replacement Project--$1.95 million 

The entity to receive funding for this project is Milwaukee County’s Department of Transportation located at 10320 W. Watertown Plank Road, Wauwatosa, WI 53226.

The funding would be used to purchase three clean diesel buses to replace buses that have reached the end of their useful life.  Milwaukee County Transit buses provide 150,000 rides a day and travel 17 million miles annually, helping many of my constituents get to work.

The Port of Milwaukee’s Dock Improvement Project--$3 million

The entity to receive funding would be the City of Milwaukee, which is located at 200 East Wells Street, Milwaukee WI 53202.

The project would fund activities, including dock construction and related roadwork and utilities work, on underutilized lands at the Port of Milwaukee to support redevelopment for economic purposes and enhanced public use including the possible creation of a new facility to accommodate passenger cruises or a new multi-season public access facility and event space.

North Shore Library-$1.89 million

The entity to receive funding is the Village of Bayside, located at 9075 N. Regent Road, Bayside, WI 53217.

Funding would be used to complete the construction of a new library to serve the villages of Bayside, Fox Point, River Hills, and the city of Glendale.

Kosciuszko Community Center--$2 million

The entity to receive funding is Milwaukee County, located at 633 W. Wisconsin Ave., Ste. 1000, Milwaukee, WI 53203.

This project at the Kosciuszko Community Center will involve the renovation of classrooms and learning spaces, a two-story addition to incorporate additional space, and enhancements to locker rooms and the gymnasium. Overall, the improvements made by this project would have a significant impact on physical and mental health outcomes for area residents.

Milwaukee Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee’s Public Safety Department Technology and Equipment for Crime Prevention Project--$1.55 million

The entity to receive funding for this project is the City of Milwaukee located at 200 East Wells Street, Milwaukee, WI 53202.

The funding would be used to procure and install updated technology and equipment including security cameras, alarm systems, access control systems, and lighting enhancements and security fencing to enhance security at public housing properties throughout the City.

Improving Health and Living Environment Project --$1.58 million

The entity to receive funding for this project is the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, located at 2100 E. Kenwood Blvd, Milwaukee WI 53211.

The project would address the need for affordable and safe housing and improved access to healthy food.  It would target nutrition interventions for pregnant women in Milwaukee at <200% of the federal poverty limit designed to prevent, reverse, and stabilize disease resulting in healthy birth outcomes.  The program will be offered to pregnant women at risk of preeclampsia and/or gestational diabetes, identified by risk factors present in the first trimester. The proposal also includes would study the creation of a Healthy Homes Navigator program to provide a one-stop-shop to Wisconsin’s low-income residents (homeowners and renters) seeking to make home upgrades that improve environmental and public health outcomes.

City of Wauwatosa Fire Training Ground Classroom Building- $1 million

The entity to receive funding is the city of Wauwatosa, located at 7725 W North Avenue Wauwatosa, WI 53213.

The City of Wauwatosa is requesting funding to replace the existing classroom building at the fire training grounds. The new facility will provide a modern, year-round training space for both police and fire personnel, ensuring they receive high-quality, scenario-based training in a controlled environment. The project supports public safety by helping to improve training and readiness, supporting more effective and efficient firefighting and emergency services to Wauwatosa and the greater Milwaukee region.

Milwaukee Improved Schoolyards and Water Workforce Development Project-$1.68 million

The entity to receive funding is the Metropolitan Milwaukee Sewerage District, located at 260 W. Seeboth Street, Milwaukee, WI 53204.

This project has two goals:1) transform underutilized schoolyards into green spaces that reduce stormwater runoff, improve water quality, and create outdoor learning environments, and 2) help build a skilled water-sector workforce through youth pre-apprenticeships, upskilling, and industry engagement. This project targets low income, high need neighborhoods to foster educational equity, and family supporting careers.
