Dear friend,
The pandemic has only magnified the need for accessible, affordable health care. That’s why I encourage every resident to take advantage of the special open enrollment period to sign up or change health plans on the ACA health exchanges before it ends this Sunday, August 15th. The American Rescue Plan has made coverage even more affordable by expanding subsidies and tax credits to more Americans which means, even if you already have coverage through another ACA health plan, you could still benefit and save money.
Read some of the ways the ACA can benefit you:
- Individuals who previously didn’t qualify for subsidies may now be eligible for assistance. I want to make sure you take advantage of this opportunity. It is estimated that up to 31,000 in my congressional district who are uninsured could benefit from the increased subsidies under the American Rescue Plan, many of whom who could be eligible for plans with zero premiums!
- Another 19,000 individuals in the Milwaukee area who currently purchase health insurance through the ACA health exchange could save approximately $2,500, on average annually, in health insurance premiums due to the American Rescue Plan changes.
While over 2.5 million Americans have already used this period to find a more affordable health plan, this window is closing fast and I urge you to not leave these considerable savings on the table. Head to HealthCare.gov to learn about the Marketplace Health Insurance plans, compare your options, and enroll. Find resources and information in Spanish at CuidadoDeSalud.gov.
