2019 in Review

The House has been busy fighting for the people. We have passed 400 bills, 275 of which are bipartisan. This includes legislation to address the multiemployer pension crisis, raise the minimum wage, lower health care costs, secure our elections and more. Senator Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has allowed all 400 bills to languish in the Senate. He is halting progress for the American people.

The House passed bipartisan legislation to:

  • Give hardworking Americans a long-overdue raise by increasing the minimum wage and making sure women are paid fairly for their work.
  • Protect the retirement of 1,400 current and future Milwaukee retirees
  • Enact gun safety background checks to keep communities safe.
  • Protect the 2.5 million Wisconsinites with pre-existing conditions.
  • Strengthen our election security.
  • Support veterans.

I supported the passage of this legislation to better the lives of Milwaukee residents and Americans across the country. From conducting town halls to fighting for lower prescription drug prices, I have also been busy working in D.C. and Milwaukee on behalf of all of you. Hearing and engaging with all of you is my favorite part of my job. There were so many good moments this year, here are some highlights:

  • Hearing from Constituents in Congressional Cafes
  • Working to Reduce Maternal Mortality Rates by Introducing Legislation to Expand Access to Doulas and Midwives
  • Fighting for Lower Prescription Drug Costs
  • Introducing the WRCR Act, Legislation to Expand the Earned Income Tax Credit
  • Visiting the U.S.-Mexico border
  • Participating in Community Brainstorming Conference
  • Volunteering with Horizon’s Meals on Wheels
  • Introducing legislation to Recognize 6888 (Six Triple Eight) Central Postal Battalion, the unsung World War II heroes and the only African American Women’s Army Corps Battalion

and much more!
