ACA Open Enrollment Begins Tomorrow!

The Health Insurance Marketplace Open Enrollment period begins this Friday, November 1st and runs until December 15th. Coverage will then begin on January 1, 2020. 

Give yourself peace of mind and get covered. Millions of Americans have signed up for coverage through HealthCare.gov, a site that makes it easy to shop and compare the plans available to you. Obtaining health insurance can provide you and your family with new-found health security and peace of mind. Additionally, Wisconsinites have more options this fall; the number of insurers has increased to 13.

Real coverage. All plans at HealthCare.gov cover free preventive care with no co-pay, protect people with pre-existing conditions, provide comprehensive coverage, and control the cost of emergency care.

Financial help is available.  Most people using HealthCare.gov qualify for financial assistance. If your financial circumstances have changed in the past year, make sure to update your application.

Getting covered is easier than ever. There are many ways to select a health plan and enroll.

          • Online:  You can visit  HealthCare.gov and sign up for coverage online.

          • By Phone: If you have questions about signing up or want to talk through your 

          • In-Person. As a Wisconsinite, you also have the option of scheduling an appointment with a trained professional who can answer questions and help you sign up using the Get Covered Connector.

Stay covered through the marketplace. If you already had coverage through HealthCare.gov for 2019, make sure your plan still meets your needs for the upcoming year by comparing options for 2020. You can remain automatically enrolled in your plan or shop around. If you choose not to renew or enroll in a plan, you can be automatically enrolled in the same plan. However, automatic enrollment is not guaranteed. To ensure coverage, you should still check your application status and preview health plans.

Free help is available.  Explore plans offered through the Marketplace and take advantage of the free tools on HealthCare.gov and in-person assistance on the ground to make sure you feel confident that you’ve picked the right plan for you and your family. Use the Get Covered Connector or https://LocalHelp.HealthCare.gov to find local enrollment-application assisters in your area.

FAQ. I know that many of you have questions about your coverage. Here are some commonly asked questions along with answers.

          • Am I allowed to cancel my plan?

           You can cancel your plan at any time. You can also choose to remove some or all the people included in your health plan.

           • When does my 2019 marketplace plan end?

           All 2019 plans end on December 21st, 2019. If you don’t enroll in a plan by December 15th,

           the only way to enroll in a 2020 marketplace plan is by qualifying for a special enrollment period.

           • Can I purchase plans outside the Marketplace?

           Yes, however, you will not be able to receive benefits such as premium tax credits.
