Dear friend,
On January 28th, President Biden signed an executive order strengthening the Affordable Care Act and giving you greater opportunity to have access to affordable, quality health care. Due to the pandemic, the Biden Administration opened a new enrollment period for health care on February 15th that runs through May 15th. This is a unique opportunity that is especially important while we battle the COVID-19 pandemic. If you are uninsured or would like to change your insurance plan, I encourage you to visit HealthCare.gov to learn about the Marketplace Health Insurance plans, compare your options, and enroll. For Spanish speaking constituents, all resources and information are available in Spanish at CuidadoDeSalud.gov.
Most marketplace enrollees qualify for financial assistance to lower the cost of their coverage. Last year 9 out of 10 percent of Americans qualified for financial assistance and 2 out of 3 people could receive a monthly plan for $10 or lower!
You can also find free assistance to help you pick the best health care coverage for you and your family. If you are a Milwaukee County resident, Covering Wisconsin has free resources to help guide you through this process. You can also call Covering Wisconsin at 414-400-9489 to speak with an expert. If you are not in Milwaukee County, you can call Covering Wisconsin at 877-947-2211 and find your county’s resources here. All Wisconsin residents can choose a plan and connect with a local expert at WisCovered.com.
I urge you to take this unique, three-month opportunity to enroll in an affordable health care plan for you. If you had health care in 2020, please check to see if your plan still meets your needs in 2021. I promise to keep fighting in Congress for your right to accessible, quality health care.
Your friend,
Gwen Moore
