I joined the Black Wmnz March (held on Juneteenth Day this year) to honor the Black women who fought to secure freedom and justice for Black Americans.
In an interview with Ali Velshi, I discussed how the Justice in Policing Act makes policing reforms that will help every community feel protected.
April's primary forced Wisconsinites to sacrifice their health to vote, which is the ultimate poll tax. During a Committee on House Administration Election subcommittee hearing, I expressed how we must ensure that in November, voting is safe, fair, and accessible.
During a Ways and Means Committee hearing, I appreciated testimony from Allison, which highlighted the difference measures like expanding the Child Tax Credit (CTC) and Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) can make in families' lives during challenging times. I also discussed the importance of guaranteeing child care workers have access to affordable and quality care for their own children.
Legislative Updates
Protecting and Expanding Access to Health Care
While the Trump administration continues to support a lawsuit to eliminate the Affordable Care Act, I joined House Democrats in supporting legislation to increase access to health care, make health care more affordable, and fight maternal health care disparities.
Reducing Housing Insecurity and Preventing Homelessness
As evictions continue to spike, I joined my colleagues in passing legislation to extend the foreclosure and rent moratorium, and provide funding for programs to support individuals experiencing homelessness.
Investing in Lead Removal
I introduced an amendment in H.R. 2, a sweeping infrastructure package, to secure funding for lead service line removal projects, with a priority focus on the most vulnerable communities.
