Attention Milwaukee Residents: I want to warn you of a recent scam.

People are making calls, claiming to be from the Social Security Administration and stating that their Social Security numbers (SSN) have been suspended because of suspicious activity, or criminal involvement.

The caller may also state your bank account will be seized and you must act to keep your account safe. The caller ID might also show the real number for the Social Security agency over the phone.

If any of these questions or statements are posed, please do not provide your social security number, bank information or any other personal information. Suspicious calls can be reported to the Social Security Administration’s Office of the Inspector General at 1-800-269-1027. Additionally, if you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to call my district office at (414) 297-1140.
