Congresswoman Gwen Moore, Representing the 4th District of Wisconsin
Dear friends,

I am truly proud to represent you and Wisconsin’s 4th District. Throughout this legislative session, I have carefully listened to the concerns of my constituents and have fought tirelessly to create policies that directly address the pressing concerns facing our community and our nation. I invite you to learn more about the legislation I've written and the issues I continue to fight for. As always, please feel free to reach out to my office with any questions, concerns, or feedback. Enjoy your holiday weekend!

Love,
Gwen

Better Training for Local Law Enforcement:

I recently drafted legislation emphasizing our need for law enforcement officials to be trained in non-lethal alternative methods to safely respond to any sitaution. This bill would require de-escalation training in our police academies across the country with an overarching focus on preserving life. Read my statement about this bill in my newsroom and learn more about it in the Washington Post.
Ensuring Healthy Outcomes for Newborns:

The sudden loss of a newborn’s life has a deep and profound impact in any community. This year, I introduced legislation that develops standardized national programs and guidelines for data collection following an infant or child death. It is my hope that my bill will help local authorities better understand these tragedies and prevent them from occurring in the future. Read my statement on this legislation and learn more about it in Forbes and ThinkProgress.

Prioritizing the Health and Nutrition of our Students:

The Serve More Kids Act

We have the tools and resources to keep children healthy and happy for generations to come. In our shared efforts to confront child poverty and hunger, I introduced a bill that awards grants to school food authorities for the purchase of equipment for school meal programs. Learn more about the role nutrition plays in the lives of our students in this eye-opening report.

Helping Families Fight Poverty:

As someone who has experienced and escaped poverty, I know firsthand how important social safety-net programs are for survival. With this in mind, I recently re-introduced the RISE Out of Poverty Act, which would significantly overhaul the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families(TANF)program, also known as welfare. Learn more about my efforts to help our country's most vulnerable in ThinkProgress.

Fighting for Reproductive Justice for All:

Equal Access to Abortion Coverage in Health Insurance

For 40 years, the Hyde Amendment has had a devastating impact on low-income women and women of color seeking abortion care. Such reproductive injustice has no place in our society. It's time to #BeBoldEndHyde and pass the EACH Woman Act!
