In April, I was honored to speak at a rally against efforts to slash pensions for hundreds of thousands of retirees. Our Teamsters have worked tirelessly to build for their retirement and I will continue to stand by them in the fight to protect their pensions. Learn more about this in my newsroom.

 

 
 
The ongoing water problems in Flint and Milwaukee begs those of us in positions of influence to take a broader look at the world around us to help identify similar problems. Last week, seven high school students from across our community had their art submissions recognized for the 36th annual Congressional Art Competition. I’d like to congratulate the winners and I encourage you to read my statement about this phenomenal competition.

Last month, a video surfaced of a violent altercation between a Bay View High School student and teacher’s aide. The aide has since been charged by local police and fired from his position. Read my statement about this troubling video in the Washington Post.
